Police: Monroe County man made 'terroristic threats,' said he was going to livestream violence on Facebook
(WWJ) – A Monroe County man is awaiting charges after allegedly making "terroristic threats" and threatening to livestream acts of violence online.
The 52-year-old Bedford Township man, whose name has not been released, was arrested after the Monroe County Sheriff's Office discovered he made the threats.
The sheriff's office was alerted Friday that he had made "statements of harm," officials said Sunday. The suspect claimed to have the means to carry out the threats, that he would "not be taken out in handcuffs" and was "writing his manifesto," officials said.
He also allegedly claimed to have a ballistic vest and threatened to live stream the incident on Facebook, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities did not release any further details about the alleged threats, including who was threatened, a possible motive in the case and where it took place.
The incident was investigated by the sheriff's office's Uniform Service Division and Detective Bureau and they obtained an arrest warrant and search warrant for the suspect's home.
During the search, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and authorities seized weapons and several ballistic vests.
The suspect was held at the Monroe County Jail. His identity is being withheld pending formal arraignment in 1st District Court in Monroe.
This investigation is ongoing and authorities are asking anyone with information about the threats to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
