MONROE TWP (WWJ) The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the mysterious death of a man at a motel as a homicide.
Sheriff's officials said dispatch learned of a potential disturbance at a motel in Monroe Township. They dispatched deputies to the Econo Lodge on Albain, in the area of I-75 and La Plaissance, on Saturday, March 28.
Deputies arrived at a hotel room, where they found one man unconscious, and two other men with him, according to authorities.
Deputies requested backup. First responders with Monroe Charter Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance responded and attempted "life-saving measures."
The 46-year-old man from Monroe was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities took the two other men into custody, where they released one, and held the other, pending charges. The Lucas County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
The Sheriff's Office is withholding his name pending notification of his family.
According to sheriff's officials, there is no known threat to the community.
