RAY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A Macomb County woman managed to get out of her home to safety after a domestic argument with her grown son on Monday evening, troopers confirmed.

According to Michigan State Police, a Metro North trooper and a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy teamed up while responding to a report of domestic assault at a home near Romeo Plant and 30 Mile Road in Ray Township just after 7:30 p.m. on August 7.

Authorities said a 75-year-old woman reported that she was grabbed by her 52-year-old son during an argument. He then broke her phone to prevent her from calling for help, the victim stated.

The woman was able to meet the two responding officers outside when they arrived at the home and she was taken to a safe location. She did not need medical treatment, troopers added, and was helped by other family members.

The woman's grown son remained in the house and escaped to the basement where he had allegedly stored over 30 long guns, MSP added.

Authorities were able to confirm the man had at least nine guns registered to him. Troopers surrounded the home and blocked traffic from coming through the area as the incident unfolded.

State police gave several announcements for the man the come out, but no one was seen moving in the home.

"Troopers contacted the Macomb County Prosecutor Office who advised troopers to clear the scene and complete an out of custody investigators report for review," MSP stated.

Neither the victim nor the suspect's name has been released in the incident. No arrests have been made at this time as the investigation continues.

State police said charges will be considered once the out of custody report is completed and turned over to the prosecutor's office for review.
