Romulus (WWJ) - A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into the rear of a vehicle travelling eastbound on I-94 Sunday night. The 32-year-old man was driving within a large group of motorcycles at the time.
Michigan State Police (MSP) said the group was travelling at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of traffic. The motorcycle driver, a Detroit resident, struck the back of a car near Wayne Road in Romulus around 9 p.m. The operator went airborne and was killed in the crash.
“We often see large group of motorcycles traveling on the freeway at very excessive speeds,” MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw stated.
“Often these riders don’t have endorsements and are over driving their abilities. Often these mistakes lead to preventable fatal crashes.”
Police said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation as it continues. That driver was not injured.
