(WWJ) A motorcyclist from Redford is dead after he was hit by an SUV in Detroit early Sunday morning.

The biker, 58, was on Woodrow Wilson Street at 1:40 a.m. when he crossed over eastbound Davison to make the unauthorized turn around, Michigan State Police said in a statement.

As he crossed he was struck by an SUV driven by a Detroit woman, 32, that was traveling on eastbound Davison.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.  His name was not released.

Drug impairment may be a factor in the crash, according the State Police.

“This investigation is on going,” said MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw. “It is pending ME (medical examiner) reports and vehicle inspections and blood results.”
