DETROIT (WWJ) -- A young Macomb County man is hospitalized after police say he crashed while driving a motorcycle at dangerous speeds on the freeway.

Michigan State Police said troopers responded at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday to northbound I-75 near Davison on reports of a crash. When they arrived on the scene, they found a motorcycle on its side, with the rider unresponsive in the center lane.

The 21-year-old man from Sterling Heights was taken to the hospital for treatment, officials said. There's no word on his condition.

MSP said an on-scene investigation found that the motorcyclist was traveling over 150 miles per hour, when he rear-ended a Honda CRV.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

“We continue to see excessive speed leading to preventable traffic crashes.” said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw. “There is no reason to drive faster than the speed limit. There is absolutely no reason to drive over 150 miles per hour. This is another reminder to drive responsibly.”

The freeway was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
