OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Drivers, beware! Troopers in Oakland County are on the hunt for drivers texting, speeding and displaying other bad behaviors while out on 1-696 Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police announced the crackdown on drivers as part of an initiative to limit bad driving that leads to crashes.
"Metro North troopers will be giving extra attention on I-696 Freeway between Dequindre and Halstead," MSP said on Twitter.
The territory spans almost 18 miles and cuts across several cities from Farmington Hills to Madison Heights.
"Remember to be nice out there and drive Michigan safely," troopers said on social media.
The patrols are in effect now through Tuesday evening.
