
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating a reported road rage shooting on I-696 in Royal Oak.
Michigan State Police (MSP) said they were dispatched to the area of Westbound I-696 near Woodward on Saturday, October 4, around 5:20 p.m. The caller reported they were involved in a road rage incident with a white Infiniti SUV.
According to the caller, the driver of the Infiniti pointed a gun out the window and fired two shots.
The caller said they were in the far left lane of the freeway, while the Infiniti driver was in the center lane; according to MSP.
The caller's vehicle was not struck. No injuries were reported.
Authorities said troopers closed down the freeway for an hour to conduct a canine sweep, and located no evidence.

“There is never a reason to settle a dispute with a firearm,” said First Lieutenant Mike Shaw. "Especially over something as simple as a driving error. If you find yourself involved in a situation with someone who is out of control while driving, just create some distance and call 911.”
