SCIPIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) – A man has died and a woman is hospitalized after apparently coming into contact with a live downed power line in Hillsdale County Tuesday morning.
Michigan State Police troopers from the Jackson Post were called out to the scene in Scipio Township around 8 a.m.
A preliminary investigation showed a 28-year-old man from Jonesville died at the scene after touching the wire.
A 25-year-old woman, also from Jonesville, was found injured at the scene. Authorities did not specify whether she had touched the wire as well.
The woman was airlifted to a hospital. Her condition was not known.
Circumstances surrounding the incident were not clear. MSP are still investigating.
