MSP investigating fatal shooting at Royal Oak Charter Twp. hotel

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting at a Royal Oak Charter Township hotel that left one man dead.

Michigan State Police Second District said they received a call of a shooting at the Baymont Inn, located at 11000 W. 8 Mile, near Coolidge Highway. The hotel is on the border with Ferndale.

The incident occurred at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, according to a Tweet from the MSP Second District.

The suspect is no longer at the scene.

A second Tweet from the MSP Second District reported that a 27-year-old man was killed. There are no other reported injuries at this time.

Authorities said there will be a large police presence in the area. People should avoid the area.

The investigation is just starting. MSP said they will have updates as more information is gathered.
