MSP looking for suspect after shooting on Southfield Freeway sends man to hospital

DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are looking for a suspect following a freeway shooting Tuesday that sent one to the hospital.

Officials said that at around 10 p.m. the victim was traveling south in the center lane of the Southfield Freeway, near Oakwood Boulevard, when a suspect in a white Chrysler pulled alongside his Dodge Charger on the driver's side.

Then the passenger in the Chrysler started shooting.

A portion of the southbound Southfield Freeway was closed near Michigan Avenue for several hours while MSP conducted their investigation.

The victim sustained only a minor graze wound to his right arm and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The victim’s vehicle was also struck and police recovered a firearm from inside his car.

The investigation is ongoing.
