DETROIT (WWJ) — Four teenagers have been arrested after being caught in a stolen car in Detroit.
Michigan State Police troopers were on patrol around 1:30 Friday morning when they spotted a stolen Lincoln pumping gas at a Marathon gas station near 8 Mile and Coolidge. When troopers turned on their emergency lights, two suspects immediately ran away.
Meanwhile, the driver in the Lincoln took off speeding with the pump still in the car.
Troopers chased the two suspects who ran. One trooper deployed a taser, but it did not take effect. The trooper was able to catch up to the suspect and take him into custody. The other fleeing suspect was seen running through backyards. Another trooper also unsuccessfully deployed a taser before taking him into custody.
Detroit police officers later spotted the stolen Lincoln and were eventually able to arrest the driver and front-seat passenger.
The suspects — two 17-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old — were all turned over to their parents or guardians. A petition has been submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to make a charging decision.
