(WWJ) -- Fair warning to Metro Detroiters driving on I-696 this week.
Michigan State Police have announced they will have extra patrols out on the freeway beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6 p.m. through 10 p.m.
Troopers will focus on the stretch of I-696 between Dequindre Road and I-94 in Macomb County.
“The post is continuing its strategic goal of reducing crashes on I-696 by adding extra directed patrols to look for poor driving behaviors that lead to crashes,” MSP said in a statement.
Troopers will be looking for those engaging in “risky behavior” such as speeding and distracted driving.
