LANSING (WWJ) - The Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing had a special visit on Wednesday evening after members of the Michigan State men's basketball team stopped by to greet a litter of puppies named after them.

After announcing the mixed breed puppies were up for adoption earlier in the week, the non-profit animal welfare group told WILX they were shocked when MSU guard Tyson Walker contacted the shelter to arrange a meet and greet.

“They are just really nice guys. It made the staff feel really good,” said Penny Pearsall. “It was just one of those special moments that we had no idea was going to happen and it’s just kind of turned into this really cool thing.”

A.J. Hoggard, Davis Smith, Malik Hall, and Tre Holloman accompanied Walker as they met the young dogs named after members of their team.

"Our staff hasn't stopped talking about their visit," the shelter said on Facebook.

The litter of ten puppies were named after Hoggard, Holloman, Hall, Tyson Walker, Jaxon Kohler, Carson Cooper, Mady Sissoko, Jaden Akins, Steven Izzo and Jason Whitens.

"If you have been looking for a puppy to adopt and you love MSU Basketball, we may have the perfect puppy for you," the shelter added.

Pearsall said she hopes all the attention means the puppies will find their forever homes soon.

Any potential adopters looking for more information on the shelter and their available animals can visit their official website adoptlansing.org.
