EAST LANSING (WWJ) — A Michigan State University student from Metro Detroit is facing charges after she allegedly made a threat against the school on social media earlier this week.
Hope Duncan of Eastpointe was arraigned Friday in Ingham County on charges of false report of threat of terrorism and using a computer to commit a crime, according to multiple reports out of Lansing.
MSU Police and Public Safety officials said Wednesday they had arrested an 18-year-old female student less than an hour after the threat was made, at about 2 p.m. on Feb. 26
While authorities have not released the exact details of the nature of the threat, WLNS in Lansing reported Duncan posted to an MSU Class of 28 Snapchat story that there would be “another school shooting.”
Duncan’s bond was set at $20,000 and both charges carry a maximum of up to 20 years in prison. Her next court date is scheduled for March 20.
The alleged threat comes a little more than two years after the deadly Feb. 13, 2023 shooting on the MSU campus that claimed three students’ lives and injured five others.
