DETROIT (WWJ) Michigan State Police said they have multiple people in custody in connection to the deadly shooting of a two-year-old on I-75 in Detroit.
State Police told WWJ a person in the suspects' vehicle opened fire on the pickup truck where the toddler was riding with his father and 9-year-old brother, in the area of McNichols around 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
The father pulled over and realized both of his children had been shot. Both were rushed to the hospital, where the toddler died.
The 9-year-old was hospitalized in serious condition but has since been discharged.
State Police have not released any further details on the suspects' identities or their motive. Investigators are expected to give more information soon.
