DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is jailed on premeditated murder and other charges in a carjacking turned deadly this week at a west side gas station.
On Thursday, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said 25-year-old Kevin Maurice Farries, Jr., was awaiting his arraignment in 36th District Court in connection with the slaying of 60-year-old Keith Graus of Detroit.
According to investigators, Graus was filling up at a gas station at Joy Rd. and Greenfield, when Farries got into his Jeep on the driver's side.
When Graus was done pumping gas, and moved to get back into his vehicle, it's alleged that Farries attacked and beat him.
Before fleeing the scene, authorities said Farries hit Graus with the Jeep multiple times, running him over.
Graus died at the scene.
Later that day, Farries was tracked to Dearborn by Michigan State Police.
After a short chase, he was taken into custody near the intersection of Greenfield Rd. and Warren Ave. in Detroit.
He's since been charged with Felony Murder, First-Degree Murder, and Carjacking.
Farries' booking photo will be released following his arrangement on the charges. Details on the arrangement date and time were not immediately available.
