DETROIT (WWJ) - A murdered man's family is appealing to the public for help identifying the person responsible for his death.
23-year-old Dalonta Dawson was murdered on Aug. 19, 2023 during a party. Police say Dawson got into an altercation with a group of men.
The suspect knew Dawson's name and also attempted to take his glasses, police said.
"The person that did it to my son don't know what they did to me," Dawson's mom, Lisa Hines, said during a press conference.
Dawson's family described him as "loving, caring and funny," and said the family isn't the same without him.
Hines also said he was "so happy" to become a dad, but his daughter was born after his death.
"You do not know how broke I am," Hines said. "I just want somebody, please just come forward. Please help me get justice for my son."
The family also asked the person responsible to turn themselves in.
