BERLIN TWP. (WWJ) -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says deputies were assaulted while arresting a naked man, Monday night in Berlin Township.

Sheriff Troy Goodenough said deputies initially responded at around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 to calls about the man at the entrance of a business on Swan Creek Road, south of I-75 and north of I-275, who was "saying odd things and behaving strangely," before running away and leaving his vehicle behind.

A homeowner nearby then called saying that a naked man matching the suspect's description broke into his home, in the 3600 block of Law Street. There was a confrontation, the the homeowner said he was attacked by the nude stranger.

As deputies arrived at the home, the sheriff's office said the suspect ran back toward the home, tried to get back in, and assaulted the homeowner a second time.

The suspect then allegedly assaulted deputies while resisting arrest.

The suspect was described as a 34-year-old "unclothed male" from New York, but his name was not released.

He was taken into custody booked in the Monroe County Jail charges of Home Invasion, Assaulting Police, Resisting & Obstructing, and Indecent Exposure.
