LANSING (WWJ) -- Lansing lawmakers are tightening up the definition of marijuana with new legislation.

WWJ's Jim Matthews reports that the gap in the Michigan marijuana law has allowed some untested products to be sold that contain THC.

Supports say that has given gas stations and smoke shops the go-ahead to sell other hemp-based products, which have similar intoxicating effects to marijuana.

In the bill, all THC products would be included in the legal definition of 'marijuana,' subjecting them to the same level of testing, regulation and restrictions.

The bills, which have received bipartisan support, now go to the state Senate for approval,  and then Governor Gretchen Whitmer for consideration.
