Since shuttering all of their stores back in 2018, Toys "R" Us is under new ownership once again, this time WHP Global has acquired the Toys "R" Us, Babes "R" Us, and Geoffrey the Giraffe brands as they now have a controlling interest in Tru Kids.
The new management comes with plans to reopen stores across North America in the form of pop-ups, mini-locations inside of other stores, some in high-traffic malls and perhaps a few flagship stores. This all despite the brand's only two pop-up stores shuttering in early 2021 due to the pandemic.
WHP CEO Yehuda Shmidman notes that now that the company is through its restructuring process and the world is beginning to open back up that "the sky's the limit" for the brand. Shmidman is aiming to have stores open in America again by the 2021 holiday season.
