
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A fire at an extended stay hotel in Farmington Hills has displaced multiple residents.
The Farmington Hills Fire Department said they responded to a call at the MainStay Suites on Halsted Road about heavy smoke and flames at about 5 a.m. Thursday.
All 124 rooms in the hotel were occupied and had to be evacuated. Authorities said the fire appeared to have started on the third floor.
WWJ’s Charlie Langton was on the scene. A resident said the hotel alerted them to the fire quickly and were able to get everyone out.
Residents were able to remain in the lobby after the fire was extinguished. The third and fourth floors were heavily damaged.
Farmington Hills Fire Marshal Jason Baloga said the cause of the fire is being investigated.
There were no injuries.
