(WWJ) According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), Metro Detroit and southeastern Michigan have a “low” chance of seeing the Northern Lights tonight.
But it’s still a better chance than Ohio, Indiana and the rest of our neighbors to the south who have a zero chance of seeing them per the NOAA’s Aurora Forecast.
The NOAA said the best time to view the Northern Lights is between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. “away from city lights.”
The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are result of magnetic storms “triggered by solar activity, such as solar flares (explosions on the sun) or coronal mass ejections (ejected gas bubbles), according to NASA.
If you see them or saw them last night, send your pictures to wwjnewsroom@audacy.com.
