NORTHVILLE TWP. (WWJ) — An investigation is ongoing after a Northville man was killed in a single-car crash Friday morning.

Northville Township police were called to the area of Hines and Six Mile Road around 10 a.m. on Feb. 28 and found a car that had caught fire.

The victim, identified only as a 37-year-old man, was trapped inside, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say it appears the man was driving south on Hines when the car left the road and slammed into the base of the Six Mile Road Bridge.

It was not immediately clear what caused the car to leave the road, but Nortville police and Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate.

Officials have not said whether alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

The victim’s name has not been released.
