SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A traffic back-up on Telegraph Road in Oakland County on Tuesday morning is the cause of a traffic crash between an unclothed pedestrian and a truck.

WWJ's Charlie Langton is live at the scene on Telegraph and Nine Mile Road in Southfield where a major investigation into the incident is underway.

"We've got a naked man apparently crossing Telegraph and then hit by a Ryder truck," Langton reported. "And still amazing is that he was still alive when the ambulance rushed him a local hospital."

Why the man was naked and why he was running across the street at around 7 a.m. Tuesday are questions police are trying to piece together as of 8:45 a.m.

Both directions of Telegraph Road are currently closed as Southfield police process the scene -- drivers will want to use Lahser, Evergreen or Beech Daly as alternates.

According to Langton, the only building around the immediate area is a motel that sits of the westside of Telegraph. It remains unclear if the man originally came from that business.

Langton said some of the victim's personal items along with gloves used by first responders were still laying in the middle of NB Telegraph Road.

"Who knows why he was naked or crossing the street at 7 in the morning. It's a mystery," Langton said.

The victim's condition is currently unknown. Additional details into the crash is expected from authorities at a later time.
