OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - A 29-year-old driver is dead after police say her vehicle was struck by a box truck when she turned at an intersection in Oakland Township on Saturday morning.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Joy Turnbore, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene on Rochester Road and Predmore Road after the collision was reported around 8 a.m.
Deputies said Turnbore was driving a 2015 Dodge Journey in the westbound lane on Predmore Road when she turned in front of a 2022 Hino box truck that was traveling north on Rochester Road.
There is a stop sign at Predmore Road, although deputies said it isn't clear if the 29-year-old woman stopped.
Authorities said there were two occupants in the box truck. The driver was identified as a 34-year-old Saint Clair Shores resident and while the passenger was said to be a 32-year-old resident of Center Line.
While the driver was unhurt in the crash, the passenger sustained minor injures and taken to the hospital for treatment. Both were wearing seatbelts, deputies added.
At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
