(WWJ) This is one anniversary an Oakland County couple won't soon forget.
The woman and man scratched off their Diamonds and Gold game ticket on their anniversary and saw they'd won $2 million.
At first, the couple thought that just couldn't be right.
“A message came up to file a claim at the Lottery office, so we asked a friend to scan it on her Lottery app," said the said the 44-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous. "I started shaking and was in total shock when $2 million came up on the screen. It was so exciting and the best surprise on our anniversary!”
The winning ticket was bought at the Opdyke Featherstone Mobil gas station on Opdyke Road in Auburn Hills.

The winner chose to receive the prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million, rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
With the money, the winner says she plans to buy a house, invest and set some aside for her children's college funds.
Lottery officials say players have won more than $54 million playing Diamonds & Gold, which launched in March 2024. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at retailers across the state.
“Congratulations to the lucky player and her husband who had a day they will never forget after winning $2 million on their wedding anniversary!” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “It is great to hear that the prize will also have a positive impact on their children by helping fund their future education.”
