INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) An Independence Township man died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash two weeks ago, the sheriff's office said.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Gerald Gorsline, 51, passed away Friday, November 29th at his home. This comes two weeks after they said he drove a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastbound on Clarkston Road through the curve at Clintonville Road on November 15th, around 5 a.m. The pickup crossed the centerline, veered off the road, and hit a tree.

Independence Township Fire Department crews extricated Gorsline from the pickup truck and rushed him to the hospital. There's no word on his condition at the time of the crash.

According to the sheriff's office; speed was determined to be a factor in the crash. They said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. He had no signs of alcohol intoxication. Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate.
