(WWJ) — Authorities are asking potential victims to come forward after an Oakland County man who worked as a substitute teacher was charged with six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday 61-year-old Timothy Daugherty of White Lake was arraigned last week on charges stemming from a series of incidents alleged to have happened in Highland Township, where the defendant was contracted as a substitute teacher.

While specifics surrounding the alleged incidents were not disclosed, prosecutors say the allegations involve inappropriate sexual conduct with minor students. Officials didn’t say which school or schools the alleged incidents happened at or how old the students were.

The prosecutor’s office says the first allegations were reported to law enforcement in April and Daugherty was immediately suspended.

“This was a trusted individual in a school that preyed upon kids,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said, per a press release. “I applaud the bravery of the young victims who came forward. The case will be handled by my office’s Special Victims Unit, who will work diligently to secure justice for these children, parents, and the community.”

Daugherty’s bond was set at $75,000 cash/surety with a 10% provision. If released, Daugherty will be ordered to wear a GPS tether.

His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 18.

The prosecutor’s office is encouraging any potential victims or anyone who has more information about the incidents to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Highland Township Substation at 248-887-6240.

Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct is a felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment and requires lifetime electronic monitoring upon parole from prison, mandatory AIDS/STD testing, and DNA to be taken upon arrest.
