An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting in Detroit.
The police department says is happened just after midnight Thursday in the area of Ford Road and the Southfield Freeway when an off duty officer was sitting in a vehicle and men approached him.
One of them allegedly pointed a gun at the officer -- who fired a single gunshot at the suspects, hitting one of them. All three then fled on foot.
One of the suspects -- 16-year-old -- was later found at a local hospital, where he was listed in temporary serious condition. The suspect was taken into custody.
The incident is being investigated by department, and the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will eventually conduct an independent investigation.
