MONROE (WWJ) An Ohio man, accused of leading Monroe County Sheriff's deputies on a wild chase, is in custody.

The chase happened on Thursday (5/23), beginning around 2:13 a.m.


Monroe County Sheriff's Office said their Central Dispatch received a call from Washington Township Police Department (Ohio), reporting their officers were pursuing a vehicle northbound on I-75 at the state line. They said the vehicle had fled from a traffic stop in Toledo. They also said the registered owner may have warrants.

Sheriff's Deputies deployed stop sticks as the car passed LaPlaisance Road. They continued the pursuit into Wayne County, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff's Deputies ended the pursuit at Dix Highway and I-75, according to the sheriff's office. A short time after, Michigan State Police Troopers Metro South Post contacted Central Dispatch and reported that they located the fleeing vehicle on I-96 near Schaefer Highway.

The suspect, 30 years old of Toledo, was arrested and lodged at the Monroe County Jail. His name is being withheld pending formal arraignment.
