Ohio man arrested for stalking wife with loaded guns, leading Monroe County police on drunken chase

BEDFORD TWP. (WWJ) -- A man from Ohio was arrested in Monroe County after allegedly stalking his wife and leading police on a drunken chase.

The incident began at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Monday when a woman reported being harassed and stalked by her estranged husband near the 7200 block of Lewis Avenue in Bedford Township.

The suspect, from Toledo, was also reported to be armed with a handgun.

Following his interview with the victim, Deputy Brian Biegajski remained in the area in case the suspect returned.

A short time later, the suspect did return. However, after spotting Biegajski in the parking lot, he immediately fled north on Lewsi Avenue in a black 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The deputy followed the 48-year-old until the suspect lost control, colliding into a utility pole at the intersection of Ida West Road and Lewis Avenue in Ida Township.

After the suspect was arrested, authorities found two loaded firearms in the truck.

He is currently lodged at the Monroe County Jail, where he is facing criminal charges for stalking, drunk driving, fleeing & eluding police and carrying a concealed weapon.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending formal arraignment.
