
ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) -- A 21-year-old Ohio man faces up to life in prison if he's convicted as charged with attempted murder for a shooting outside a Metro Detroit-area hotel.
Calvin Roger Jones Jr., of Cincinnati, was arraigned Friday in connection with the incident Sept. 1., in the parking lot of the Rochester Hills Fairfield Inn.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, there was a confrontation outside the hotel, on Stephenson Hwy. near I-75, involving at least three people.
Two people were shot, officials said. One man died, while a second person's injuries were not life-threatening.
After the shots fired, a vehicle sped away from the scene and crashed near Rochester Road and South Boulevard, officials said. No one was injured in the crash.
Following an investigation by the OSCO, Jones was arrested.
He is charged with charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of felony firearm.
There have been no murder charges yet announced in this case.
During his arraignment in 52-3 District Court, Jones was ordered held on a $2 million bond. On Monday, he remained held in the Oakland County Jail.
