Ohio man killed in hit-and-run after 911 caller reports pedestrian running in traffic on I-75 in Detroit: MSP

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man who was on foot the freeway in Detroit Sunday night.

At around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 2, Michigan State Police said a call came in about a pedestrian who was walking on northbound I-75 . A short time later, another 911 caller reported seeing the pedestrian "was running in the lanes of travel" on I-75, near W. Grand Blvd.

While searching the area, MSP troopers and Detroit EMS found the pedestrian who'd been hit by a car, in the left lane of the freeway.

The 42 -year-old man from Twinsburg, Ohio was pronounced dead on the scene.

MSP said the driver who hit the man fled the scene after the crash. There is no description of the suspect vehicle at this time, as the investigation continues.

It's unclear what the man was doing on the freeway. Police said his family has been notified.
