WHITEFORD TWP (WWJ) A one-car crash near the Michigan-Ohio border put a man in "critical, but stable" condition and injured a woman, the sheriff's office said.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened in Whiteford Township, about 16 miles northwest of Toledo, on Saturday, February 22nd around 7:40 p.m. According to investigators; the driver was traveling in his black 2006 Saturn Vue on Sylvania Petersburg Road, south of Bibb, when he
slipped "over a section of roadway covered in ice.”
The Saturn landed in a ditch “striking two trees while rotating 360 degrees, and crashed into a utility pole, coming to rest on a residential property,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
According to the sheriff's office; Tory Carrier, 33 of Ottawa Lake, was driving the car. Courtney Fitzgerald, 28 of Lambertville, sat in the front passenger seat. Benjamin Ballard, 39 of Toledo, was in the back seat.
Investigators said Carrier wore his seatbelt, but Fitzgerald and Ballard did not.
First responders rushed Ballard and Fitzgerald to Toledo ProMedica Hospital in Toledo. Fitzgerald was listed in “stable” condition. Ballard was listed in “critical, but stable condition.”
Carrier was not injured.
Speed is a factor in this crash, the sheriff’s office said.
