
ROMULUS (WWJ) One person was killed and another hospitalized in a single-car crash on I-275 in Romulus.
In a statement on X, Michigan State Police Second District said Detroit Regional Communication Center informed troopers of the crash at I-94 on Sunday, December 8th, around 1:40 a.m.
Troopers and local officers arrived on the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the 2021 Ford Edge was traveling on the northbound side of the freeway when the driver drove off the left side of the road and struck a concrete bridge pillar.
The front seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. The Ford Edge burst into flames, trapping the driver inside.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. No information was released on the passenger’s condition.
Troopers are still working to identify the driver and notify family.
The investigation is ongoing.
