(WWJ) -- Michigan has hit a new record high in combined retail and online betting volume, and analysts say it's partly due to the return of the football season.
Michigan saw more than $350 million in wagering to online sports books in September, according to PlayMichigan.com.

Undefeated starts by both Michigan and Michigan State in college football have contributed to the new market high, boosting the numbers 85% from August.
The in-state rivals will meet on October 30, and the all-time online wagering record of nearly $360 million set in March could be shattered.
“The Michigan-Michigan State game will likely help make September’s records short-lived, even as the Detroit Lions’ struggles continue,” said Matt Schoch, analyst for PlayMichigan.com. “The state’s sportsbooks are in a healthy position. And with basketball opening, the industry will continue to grow and mature for the rest of the year.”
Meanwhile, Michigan’s online casinos set another record, with $102.4 million in gross gaming revenue in September.
That shattered the previous record of $97.2 million set in August, as revenue rose to $3.4 million per day over the 30 days of September.
