There has been a chemical spill at Imagineering Finishing Technologies in Indianapolis that resulted in a giant orange chemical cloud that covered the area in a hazy glow.

The Indianapolis Fire Department is warning residents to stay away from the orange plum as the smoke can cause irritation to the lungs and eyes.

The fire department is asking that residents in the area of 2728 N. Emerson Ave. on Indinianapolis' northeast side close their doors and windows to shelter in place. Hazmat crews are at work on the scene to clean up the spill.

The smoke is caused by a nitric acid spill which resulted in the orange cloud forming.
