OXFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A motorcycle crash has claimed the life of an Oxford Township man and injured his young grandson.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said David Caulder, 60, died in the crash on Friday, around 1 p.m., at Baldwin Road and Hummer Lake Road.

The sheriff’s office said Caulder was riding his 2021 Harley Davidson three-wheeler south on Baldwin Road when a woman driving a northbound 2019 Buick Envision turned in front of him. The driver of the Buick, 68 of Lapeer Township, was trying to turn left onto westbound Hummer Lake Road.

Caulder and his grandson, 12, were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the sheriff’s office. First responders pronounced Caulder dead at the scene. The Oxford Township Fire Department rushed the grandson, wearing a helmet, to the hospital where he’s in stable condition. The driver of the Buick is also hospitalized in stable condition.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
