DETROIT (WWJ) -- Parking in Detroit is already a headache for most people, but the Park Detroit app has a new version that is full of upgrades to make navigating paid parking in the city a bit easier.
Starting Thursday, the city is launching the new app, which features a new map interface that users can zoom in and pinpoint specific garages, parking lots or on-street metered parking locations to compare pricing by the block.
The app will give people who are heading to concerts or sports events the ability to check for available parking using the name of the event or the venue.
Individuals will also have the ability to pre-pay for a parking spot in the new app.

Users of the current app will need to delete it and download it again in the Apple or Google Play store as it will not automatically update.
This launch is marking the first of three major upgrades for the app.
