WYANDOTTE (WWJ) - A 68-year-old man in is police custody after allegedly exposing himself outside a Downriver drug store and taking off when confronted by an officer two weeks ago.
The Wyandotte Police Department said they were notified of the incident on Oct. 10 when a woman flagged down an officer and told them a partially naked man was fondling himself outside the CVS Pharmacy on Fort Street.
When police arrived at the drug store, they found a man in the act of exposing himself in a truck that had been backed into a parking space.
The officer approached the man, the department added, who was uncooperative. He refused to give his identification, rolled up his window and took off on the officer.
A slow speed chase ensued, with the officer following the man's truck for a few block before the man was forced to stop on 22nd Street near Cedar.
The department added that the officer had a hard time arresting the man, who appeared to have petroleum jelly slathered all over his arms.
He was eventually taken into custody and was identified as 68-year-old Roberto Taschetti.
Taschetti is not unknown to police. The department said the 68-year-old has an extensive criminal history.
He was charged with aggravated indecent exposure and fourth-degree fleeing. A judge set his bond at $10,000 or 10% cash surety.
