HARTLAND TWP. (WWJ) -- A person is dead after being hit by a vehicle along US 23 in Livingston County, north of Brighton, early Wednesday morning.
According to Michigan State Police, the fatal crash involving a pedestrian happened in the southbound lanes of US 23 near M-59 in Hartland Township, at around 5 a.m.
Police said troopers from the Brighton Post are investigating.
The person who died was not immediately identified, and no other information is being released at this time.
The southbound lanes of US-23 were closed at the scene, with police urging morning commuters to find another route to work.
All lanes have since reopened to traffic.
