ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - An encounter on I-275 left one man shaken after another driver pointed a gun at him during an alleged road rage incident Friday evening, state police said.

Troopers said they first became aware of the incident around 6 p.m. on July 15 when the male victim called to report a gun had been pointed at him as he drove north of I-275 near Ann Arbor Road.

The caller said he was approaching an Ann Arbor ramp when he allowed two cars to merge in front of him. He told police he did not see a third car hanging out in his blind spot that also needed to merge.

Police said the driver of the third car pulled alongside the male victim while driving on the shoulder. The caller said a woman was alone in the vehicle and caught his attention as she began to make gestures toward the center console.

The man said the woman then produced a pistol and aimed it at him, police said.

He attempted to get away by speeding off, but ended up behind the female suspect while getting onto eastbound I-96.

While not recommended by police, troopers said the man followed the woman, but was only able to get the first digit off her license plate.

State police said the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
