PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP (WWJ) Plymouth Township Police are looking for a suspect in a possible case of “stranger danger.”

In a media release, police said the mother reported her “elementary-school aged” child told her he had been approached by a man driving an unknown vehicle. The suspect allegedly asked the boy if he “wanted to go for a ride” with him.

The child said he was riding his scooter in the Trailwood Subdivision, on Trailwood Road between Riveredge Drive and Creekwood Circle, when the suspect approached him Friday (5/3) around 4:50 p.m.  That’s in the area of Ann Arbor Road and Sheldon Road.

Officers spoke with the child. He described the car as “red” and initially reported it as a convertible, but “finally settl(ed) on a sedan”. The suspect was described as a man, possibly in his mid 30’s, wearing sunglasses.

Police said they have not been able to find any witnesses or surveillance footage of the incident.

Plymouth Police continue to investigate. They ask any witnesses of the incident to come forward, and any residents of the Trailwood Subdivision to send in video footage that may have captured the interaction or the suspect’s vehicle.
