WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) — A 25-year-old Detroit man is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting a minor at a park in West Bloomfield last week.

Joshua Charston Brown-Hill was arraigned Friday on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges came a day after a police officer found him in Pine Lake Park with the minor.

Officials with the West Bloomfield Police Department say around 1 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, an on-duty police officer was on routine patrol in the park on Long Lake Road.

All parks in West Bloomfield are closed to vehicles and pedestrians at sunset, unless otherwise posted, according to police. As the officer was patrolling the closed park, they saw a parked car and Brown-Hill and the minor nearby.

The officer began investigating and learned Brown-Hill "had just engaged in alleged criminal sexual conduct with the minor child," officials said in a press release.

The officer arrested Brown-Hill and took him into custody.

The girl, whose age was not released, was reunited with her parents and she has since received medical and supportive care, police said.

Officials said the initial investigation "did not indicate there is any danger to the general public."

Brown-Hill's bond was set at $3 million and he is being held at the Oakland County Jail.

Authorities did not release any other information about the case. The date of Brown-Hill's next court appearance was not disclosed.
