SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are continuing to look into the "suspicious" circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people who were found dead inside a Shelby Township home on Monday morning.
According to the Shelby Township Police Department, the bodies of a 42-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were discovered at a home in the 11000 block of Whispering Oak Lane, in the area of 25 Mile and Jewel Road, the morning of July 17.
The deceased both reportedly had gunshot wounds.
"At this time, additional information on the subjects will not be available, but our department wishes to relay that there is no danger to the public," police added. "The Shelby Township Police Department is still investigating this incident and cannot rule out domestic violence as a contributing factor."
Neighbors told WDIV that they noticed something was wrong after seeing a large police presence at the home around 10 a.m.
They expressed their shock when the news broke.
“We feel sorry for her, you know,” a neighbor told WDIV. He said the woman took over the house from her father, who died during the COVID pandemic.
He described the woman as a great neighbor who loved her dogs and had proudly shared that she had received her commercial driver's license.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of death. No other details were released.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WWJ LIVE for the latest updates.
