ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) -- Police say they are investigating after a one person was shot in St. Clair Shores on Friday.
A Traffic tipster called WWJ Newsradio late in the morning, reporting that there was a large police presence in the area of 9 Mile Road and Harper Avenue.
According to St. Clair Shores Police, officers responded at around 8:45 a.m. to that area on reports of a shooting.
Police said the officers found a single victim with a gunshot wound who was conscious and able to provide information.
Officers are still following up on that information, police said, and the relationship between the suspect and victims is unknown at this time.
Witnesses at the scene told WWJ's Mike Campbell it's believed that two women got into an argument with a man inside the Shell gas station.
When they went outside, one of the women reportedly shot the man. The women then drove away, the witnesses said.
Police did not immediately confirm those witness accounts, and did not releasing any further details about the case.
By 11 a.m., Campbell said the scene had cleared and Shell was open for business.
Meanwhile, parents heard from students that South Lake High School, which is across from the incident, was on lockdown. The WWJ Newsradio 950 news team made a call to the South Lake school superintendent, who confirmed that the entire district is on "secure mode" — and no one was being allowed in or out as police search the area for suspects.
No arrests have been announced, and there is no description of the suspect or suspects at this time.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the St. Clair Shores PD Detective Bureau 586-445-5305.
