BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) -- Authorities are investigating a bomb threat received Monday morning by a Birmingham elementary school.

According to a statement from the Birmingham School District, Pierce Elementary -- located near 14 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue -- received a bomb threat on March 18 from a “computer generated source.”

Police do not believe the threat is credible, but out of an “abundance of caution,” school is canceled Monday at Pierce Elementary.

“All students currently at Pierce for Kids Club or tutoring will be moved to Greenfield Elementary,” the statement said. “We will keep the community informed as soon as more information becomes accessible.”
