Police investigating possible 'swatting call' in Kalamazoo Co.

WAKESHMA TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Officers said they are investigating a possible swatting incident in Kalamazoo County.

Michigan State Troopers and Kalamazoo County Deputies went to a reported shooting in Wakeshma Township, southeast of Kalamazoo, at around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers found that the call wasn’t legitimate. The incident is now being investigated as a “swatting call,” authorities said.

Michigan State Police said they “would like to remind residents that these calls tie up valuable resources and are taken seriously.”

The incident is now being investigated to identify the people who made the call and hold them accountable, authorities said.
