KENT COUNTY (WWJ) - There's not much that can outsmart a dog's nose, not even a suspect who went on the run and was tracked to a garage after cops say he fled from a traffic crash in West Michigan.
The hunt began after officers from the Lowell Police Department were called out to the scene a traffic crash near Alden Nash Avenue SE and Segwun Avenue, due east of Grand Rapids, the morning of Friday, Jan. 27.
As they arrived, police discovered a driver, a 27-year-old Battle Creek man, had taken off on foot.
The suspect was seen near Main and Hudson, police said, before running away yet again.
At that time, officers requested the help of a tracking dog from Ionia City. The dog, Titan, proved no match for the fleeing suspect and tracked him to a garage where police discovered him hiding behind building materials.
The man was taken into custody without further incident.
"The suspect was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors from the Kent County Sheriff's Department, two felony charges from the City of Lowell Police and had 6 warrants from other jurisdictions," the department said in an update.
